Posted: 8/15/07
The well known and nationally acclaimed group, Monroe Crossing, will headline the performers at the Rush City Music & Art Festival Aug. 18-19, in the downtown Rush City park. Their upbeat style and superb bluegrass music have made them a favorite far and wide and just recently got them voted into the Minnesota Hall of Fame with the likes of the Dale Warland Singers and Prince. Though they have performed often in the surrounding areas, this is their first visit to Rush City and event organizers are pleased to have them as part of the event.
Die Wolpertinger is returning to the festival with their German and Bavarian music complete with their Alp Horn and yodeling. They have played at German celebrations throughout the region and always are a crowd favorite with their unique talents and musicianship.
Clogging Premier and Lake Country Cloggers are the well known clogging groups from Chisago City and New Richmond, Wisc., who will get your toes tapping and entertain you with their fast footed clogging routines.
Clogging Premier is the young competition teams that have won national awards for their routines and Lake Country is comprised of all ages that enjoy this form of dance. These groups electrify the crowds wherever they go.
Kevin Lange completes the Saturday schedule with his Classic Country Music and his easy listening style for all ages. A favorite in this region Lange brings his talented group back to the Festival stage.
Shovel Shot will bring their talents to the Street Dance beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday night with a variety of music for dancing into the night.
Sunday begins with the Ecumenical Service by First Lutheran Church of Harris, led by Rush City alumni Conrad Warner and their Praise Band.
Following the service, Highground returns to the festival. These talented Cambridge area individuals have come together with a wonderful Bluegrass sound and are a treat for all audiences
Coming for the first time is the literal "One Man Band" Lyndon Peterson. This retired band rirector from Hutchinson plays and records himself on several instruments, then accompanies himself on stage. He has been a favorite at many fairs and celebrations in the area.
Neighberz is a familiar band name in this area and Craig Dahl returns to the Festival performing his wide variety of musical styles and crowd pleasing favorites. Their easy listening style is what we would expect from a band called "Neighberz".
A variety of alumni will perform at the conclusion of Sunday's schedule including a community/alumni choir.
In addition to all of the musical performers, there are art vendors, demonstrating artists, great food, classic vehicles, children's activities, and fun for the entire family. Plan to attend the Rush City Music & Art Festival.
