Lindstrom man sentenced for possession of child porn
By Patrick Tepoorten
A Lindstrom man has been sentenced to over five years in prison after a routine check of his home in 2006 revealed child pornography.
Louis Leroy Russell, 65, had just been released from prison in June of 2006 for criminal sexual conduct involving a minor under 13 years of age. As a result, his residence was subject to supervision, including inspections of his residence. According to County Attorney Janet Reiter, it was during one of these routine inspections that an Intensive Supervision Release Probation Officer discovered pornographic materials.
Because possession of pornography was considered a parole violation, the Lakes Area Police Department was called to the scene to assist in gathering evidence. It was during the search that a magazine depicting nude boys engaged in sexual activity was discovered. Further investigation also revealed a compact disc containing numerous depictions of what Reiter described as "very young boys" engaged is sex acts.
Russell'sa prosecution was conducted by Assistant County Attorney Thomas Wedes in early July, and he was pronounced guilty of the possession of pornographic work - computer/disk/magnetic/optical image with pornography, on July 12.
On Aug. 13, Russell was sentenced to 64 months in prison.
