A local man was killed early last week when a tree he was cutting fell on him.

George Rodger Nelson, 73, of Center City, had been cutting back trees with a chain saw on Monday, Aug. 13, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, when a limb fell directly on him sometime in the afternoon.

Nelson's son, Robert, had left his father at approximately 1 p.m. and thought it unusual that he had not heard from him by the evening. He went back to his father's address and discovered him beneath the limb.

According to Sheriff Todd Rivard, Nelson appeared to have been deceased since earlier in the afternoon. He was wearing head and eye protection at the time of the accident.
