Hockey falls to St. Francis
By Steve Morris
The Rush City/Pine City boys hockey team lost to the St. Francis Fighting Saints on Dec. by a score of 2-6.
Scoring goals for the boys were Cory Sarago and Haakon Hansen.
Head coach Tim Schlichting said what his team lacked was a good power-play defense. The Rush City/Pine City team let in four power-play goals.
"We will take time at practice to work on it," Schlichting said.
Prior to their game against St. Francis, the boys played Eveleth-Gilbert and lost 5-4 on Nov. 27.
Sarago and Adam Olson each had a goal, while Taylor Gonyea added two.
For this game, the boys had problems getting the puck out of their end, something Schlichting admits will take time to fix.
Up next, the boys travel to Silver Bay on Dec. 8.
Until then, they will continue to practice.
"Offense, that's one of our main focuses this week," coach said.
