The North Branch Dance team opened its season last Tuesday night with a North Suburban Conference meet in the kick division, held in North Branch.

It was the first of three competitions in the kick division for this season.

It was tight competition, and the girls were edged out of 5th and 6th place by just a few points. They ended up with a 7th place finish out of 10 conference teams.

The team danced to the song "Ready to Love."

"This was a good start to the season, though we still have much to improve on before our competition season ends," head coach Mellissa Hall said.

The team is assisted by Marie Norton.

The team's next competition is Dec. 6 at Irondale where the girls will be competing with their Phantom of the Opera Jazz routine.

The North Branch Dance team had its first conference meet of the year Nov. 27 at home.

Team captains are Cassie Kenton, Jessica Morgan and Tammy Olson.

The next Kick competition is Dec. 11 at Columbia Heights.
