Two-car, head-on collision sends one to the hospital, Feb. 7

A two-car, head-on collision in Amador Twsp., last Wednesday afternoon, put a Harris man in the hospital with head injuries and leg injuries.

According to a press release from the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, the two vehicles collided near the 16000 block of River Road just before 2 p.m., Feb. 7. The driver of the half-ton pick-up, a Menard's fleet vehicle, was identified as Chad Eric Nelson, 35, of Braham. It was reported that Nelson was wearing a seat belt and the air bag in the truck deployed. He did not suffer any significant injuries.

The driver of the Kia Spectra, David Lewis Wright, 41, Harris, suffered head and leg injuries in the crash, and was airlifted to Regions Hospital in the Twin Cities for treatment. According to North Branch Police Officer Dan Meyer, Wright's injuries were non-life threatening. Wright did not appear to be wearing a seat belt but the air bags in the vehicle did deploy.

Little about the details are being released at this time as the incident remains under investigation by the North Branch Police Department. Charges are expected to be filed.
