RC downs Rebels, 5-3
The Rush City / Pine City boys hockey team won its final regular season game of the year against Moose Lake Willow River Rebels by a score of 5-3 on Feb. 15.
Returning for the Dragons after a five week absence was senior defenseman Frank Borich.
Senior Dan Carlson scored first for the Dragons, followed by goals from Travis Tacheny and Brad Peterson to cap of the first period. Walking into the locker room, the Dragons had a 3-1 lead.
In the second period, it was junior forward Tyler Will who scored the Dragons only goal.
In the third, Carlson scored his second goal of the night. Moose Lake rallied back to within one goal but was unable to take the lead.
The win marked the end of regular season play.
The Dragons play in the section 2A playoffs as the No. 5 seed against the No. 4 seeded Sauk Rapids-Rice Feb. 22
The section championship is scheduled for March 1 in Cloquet.
