Snowmobile safety class braves the weather

Fourteen participants of the 2006-2007 Snowmobile Safety class sponsored by the Chisago County Sheriff's Office and Wild River Snowmobile Club, braved sub-zero temperatures to obtain their MN DNR Safety Certificate.

On Sat., Feb. 3, 14 students completed their final Snowmobile Safety class session. During class they reviewed the signs and symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia. They were also told to use common sense when venturing out into the cold. In addition, they were reminded to tell someone where they were going, when they would return, and to take a buddy with them when they traveled on their snowmobile.

All 14 students completed and passed a written examination and riding skills test. Congratulations to all who participated. Thanks to Shafer Township for the use of their town hall, and to the volunteers who made this class possible. Please watch the newspaper and the Chisago County Sheriff's Home Page for spring ATV Safety Classes.
