Shooting woes hamper Tigers

When teams lose, they always find something to blame it on. For Rush City's 12-point loss to Onamia, the culprit was the team's field goal percentage.
Opening up the month of February the boys fell to Onamia, by a final score of 83 to 71. On the game, the boys shot 44.3 percent from the floor while their opponent had no trouble finding the bottom of the net, with a 62 percent shooting from the floor.
The Tigers also had a hard time stopping Onamia's sharp shooter, Chris Hammers. He finished with 28 points, 19 of which came in the second half.
Head coach Gary Dreissig called Hammers a "fine perimeter player."
Andy Erickson finished with a team high in both points and rebounds. He ended with 19 points on four of seven shooting and nine total rebounds.
On Jan. 30, it was a match-up between the Tigers and the Lions and the Tigers got the upper hand.
Rush City beat the 0-17 Oglive Lions 93 to 53 on the road.
"We played very good team basketball," Dreissig said. "It was nice to have five players score in double figures."
The team compiled 24 assists. Nick Behrendt had a team-high five assists. A total of 13 players saw playing time against the Lions. It was the second game of the year between the two teams. On Dec. 5, the Tigers trounced on the Lions 98-52.
Jerred Nelson paced the team with 11 rebounds followed by Isaac Roll who finished with nine.
The season is quickly closing for Rush City. They have six games left in the regular season before the section 6AAA quarterfinals beginp March. 8.
