The girls didn't win, but things are improving.

On Jan. 4, the Rush City girls basketball team hoisted its white flag to Hinckley-Finlayson 56-38.

Senior Amber Hoffman had one of her most potent offensive nights of the year. She finished the game with a team high 16 points on five of eight from the floor.

"In my opinion, except for a few stretches here and there, this was our best game," head coach Jeremy Albright said.

Bethany Peters played outstanding on the defensive end, Albright said.

"I was very happy with our effort and hustle. Each girl played with a lot of heart," Albright said.

The girls are still win-less on the season. They are currently 0-4 in the Great River Conference and 0-9 overall.

Rush City scoring: Lauren Weber 2, Justine Prettner 2, Amber Hoffman 16, April Kjelland 3, Bethany Peters 3, Laura Kay 4, Brittany Scheffer 2, Chenona Fields 6.
