The first ever Chisago Lakes 5K run/walk will be held in conjunction with the "Celebration of the Lakes Festival" on Jan. 27. The run/walk begins at 10 a.m. at the tent on North Center Lake in Center City. 

Fairview Lakes Health Services and Forest Lake Cycle & Skate have teamed with the Chisago Lakes Chamber and event organizers at Midwest Sports Events to offer the event and help promote a fun and active event in the winter.

The new Chisago Lakes 5K run/walk course travels past the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. After the 5K, enjoy the hot air balloons, boot hockey, helicopter rides, snowmobile racing and sled dog rides.

Registration for the 5K is now open. All participants receive a long-sleeved shirt and awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners and by age group in five-year increments.

Registration fees are $19 for adults and $9 for children 12 and under. People who print off the downloadable registration form and drop it off at Forest Lake Cycle & Skate can take $3 off the fee.
