Harris holds an ice rink party
The cold weather didn't deter folks from coming out for the opening of the Harris ice rink last Saturday evening. Included in the fun was a horse-drawn wagon ride, a nice warm bonfire and hot cocoa and, of course, skating on the smooth ice. The Harris fire department was busy earlier in the week delivering 3,000 gallons of water to create the community rink, the first in many years.
At right: The first to try out the rink was 4-year-old Wyatt Wothe, son of Harris's new city clerk, Jennifer Wothe. It was his first time on skates and mom's help was appreciated, still he was eager to go solo. The city, with the help of the fire department, will maintain the rink which is located near the Covenant church.
