Local playwright to direct children's musical

After a long week of cooking flapjacks for the lumberjacks Fiddler Pierre is looking forward to a "backwoods country party" - a real hoe-down. But before Pierre can light the campfire, Luna, the graceful moon, sings a song to the world as she rises in the east, pausing just long enough to let him know that she saw a storm brewing on her way around the earth ... Before he has time to prepare for the storm, however, a trio of bears burst into camp, friends scatter, thunder booms in the sky and the Lightningess dances on the ground.

Underneath The Silvery Moon will be performed April 27 at the North Branch High School auditorium. Open to youths 9 - 13, the NB Community Ed. Theater Workshop starts Fri. Feb. 9 at the NBHS Auditorium. Cost per student $53 (everyone who registers will have a role in the play). Tryouts for solo songs and speaking roles will be held at the first class.
