Elbie E. Nelson

Elbie E. Nelson, age 89, of North Branch, was born May 13, 1918 at Harris, Minn., to Charles and Christine (O'Sell) Wredberg. She was raised and attended schools in the Harris area. She later married Joseph A. Nelson in January of 1960 and they continued to live in the Harris area.

Elbie worked as a housekeeper at Green Acres County Care nursing home in North Branch her whole working life. She loved music, especially singing and playing the piano and organ. She was very gifted as she never had any lessons on how to play either the piano or the organ. She was a life-long member of Harris Covenant Church. She was very dedicated to and deeply loved by all her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her step-children and their families: Walt (Jane) Nelson of St. Joseph, Shirley (Roger) Leitch of North Branch and Mavis (Earl) Schweigert of Rush City; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph, step-son Al, sisters Juliana, Anna, Lillie and Clara; brothers Phillip, Dave, Edwin, Tennie and Paul; infant brothers Axel and John.

Elbie died on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Green Acres Country Care Center at the age of 89 years, one month and 19 days.

The funeral service was at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5 at Grandstrand Funeral Home with funeral celebrant Marlene Keyser officiating.

Music was provided by Phyllis Soderland. Casketbearers were Ed Nelson, Jr., Dean Ramberg, Walter Nelson, Ron Nelson, Dick Scheele ad Ray Scheele. Honorary casketbearers were Elbie's nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Oakgrove Cemetery in Harris.
