Douglas "G8R" Horton, age 46, of North Branch, left for the big ride in the sky on June 3, 2007 surrounded by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ellen Just and beloved dog, Patches.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patty; daughter, Heather Heard; grandsons, Dylan, Patrick and Quinton; brother-in-law, Richard (Susanne) Just; his pug, Ebony; and many friends.

G8R was a veteran of the US Air Force.

He loved his motorcycle, his pug, and his family. A member of A.B.A.T.E., he helped found River Riders and was Master Sergeant at Arms of Metro Chapter.

A benefit memorial ride will begin at 10 a.m., Sat., July 21 at Stacy City Park (2 blocks East of I-35 on Stacy Trail), and end with a pig roast at Shafer's Saloon, 30220 Redwing Ave., Shafer.
