Myrna L. Shearer

Myrna Lorraine Shearer (Pronounced Merna), 69, of Chetek died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Care Partners in Rice Lake, Wisc.

She was born January 10, 1938 in Cumberland Township, Wisc. to Morton and Ella Mae (Shollito) Shearer.

She was raised in the town of Cumberland, Wisc. and attended Collingwood School. Was baptized and confirmed at the Collingwood Lutheran church.

She graduated from Barron High School in 1955. Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from UW-Stout 1959 and went on to receive a Masters Degree in Home Economics from the University of Minnesota. Long, distinguished career as a 4-H Agent/Home Economist for the U of M Extension in Chisago County. Retired as Extension Agent in 1988.

Myrna was instrumental in getting the Senior Center up and running in Chisago County. Loved animals of all kinds, and supported her area animal shelters. Loved growing things, particularly wild flowers. Was a gifted and accomplished cook and baker. Moved to Chetek are in 1999. Member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chetek.

Survived by one niece, Michelle (Bruce) Klefstad of Ridgeland, Wisc.; two nephews, Monty (Mary) Shearer of Barron, Wisc. and James (Rochelle) Shearer of Hammond, Wisc.; brother-in-law, James (Donna) Meacham of Chetek, Wisc.; sister-in-law, Carol Shearer of Cumberland; special friend, John Jackson of Shafer, Minn.; and six great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded by parents, one brother, Melbourne; one sister, Marjorie Meacham and an infant sister, Marlys.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Chetek, Wisc. with Pastor John Erickson officiating. Burial will be at Collingwood Cemetery in the town of Cumberland, Wisc.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 18 4-8 p.m. at Brunham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, Wisc. and also one hour prior to service at the church.
