Participants from the We 然' Able program joined together at the Lent Town Hall in Stacy to play league softball, June 5.

The blue sky, sun and 70 degree weather made the ideal backdrop for the more than 25 people who played in the weekly softball game.

Betty Stoffel, program manager for We 然' Able, said one of the aims of the softball league is to help the participants become more physically active.

The softball league started May 15 and meets every Tuesday at the Lent Town Hall fields in Stacy for games. The last game is scheduled for June 19. Stoffel said they had 32 people with disabilities signed-up for the softball league. At the June 5 game, 28 athletes were in attendance along with various program volunteers.

Softball is just one of the many activities the group does during the year. In the fall, for instance, they bowl.

Stoffel started the program in 1989 to provide education and activities for adults with disabilities.

"I don't know when to quit. I am taking it one day at at time," she said.
