Fairview Lakes Medical Center hosts open house in Wyoming

Bekka, Elizabeth and Tessa model the child-size scrub suits that will be among door prizes for kids under 8 who attend the June 23 open house at Fairview Lakes Medical Center. All kids will have a chance to try on surgeon's garb as part of the event.

To celebrate completion of its recent $29 million expansion project, Fairview Lakes Medical Center, 5200 Fairview Blvd., Wyoming, is hosting a public open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23.

The events will feature tours, door prizes and refreshments, with activities for adults and children. Adults who bring in a numbered postcard could win an iPod nano or other gifts. Every adult who attends will receive a free mini first aid kit while supplies last. Kids who take part in the scavenger hunt could win a Grand Rios Water Park gift certificate or one of four kid-size scrub suits. (See photograph.) Kids will also receive a free cinch back sack (while supplies last).

The construction project has added a new emergency entrance and same-day surgery center, expanded the emergency department, urgent care, intensive care, operating suites and diagnostic imaging including a new inhouse magnetic resonance imaging unit (MRI), a new kitchen and dining area, as well as inpatient areas where six patients rooms were added. Phase II, the remodeling phase, will continue through the end of the year and include completion of diagnostic imaging and ED areas, remodeling of the Birthplace to include observation rooms and a new expanded infant nursery.

Adults attending will see the new emergency department with its beautiful new curved glass entrance and waiting area, and the new same-day surgery center with its computerized, patient tracking system and a peek at a new state-of-the-art operating room.

Area residents should watch their mail for a postcard containing a number, which they can bring to Fairview Lakes Medical Center, 5200 Fairview Blvd., Wyoming, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 23 to compare with the posted numbers for a chance at a free gift. No purchase necessary to have a chance to win. If their printed number doesn't match the posted number, they can write their name and phone number on the card and enter it in a "second chance" drawing. Imprinted cards must be turned in, in person, at the medical center between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 23 to be eligible for a chance at a prize. Prizes are guaranteed to be awarded. Employees of Fairview and affiliated organizations, and members of their household, are not eligible to participate. For more details about the expansion project go to lakes.fairview.org.
