The Chisago County Sheriff's Office captured Steven Charles Schroeder, 38, of Shafer, and returned him to custody on the evening of June 22.

Schroeder, who had been in the county jail serving a sentence for gross misdemeanor second degree DUI, walked away from a work detail at Checkerboard Park on May 30. His whereabouts was unknown for almost a month before he was spotted by deputies watching his residence.

Schroeder was arrested without incident, and faces charges of gross misdemeanor escape from custody.
