Man walks away from work detail
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office and area law enforcement are trying to locate Steven Charles Schroeder, A.K.A. "Charley," 38, of Shafer, after he walked away from a work detail last week. Schroeder was part of a Sentence to Serve crew doing general maintenance at Checkerboard Park in Sunrise Township Wednesday, May 30. Supervisors noticed his absence around 3:15 p.m. and multi-jurisdictional efforts to locate him came up empty.
As of Tuesday, Schroeder was still at large. According to Chief Deputy Bob Shoemaker, Schroeder was in custody for gross misdemeanor second degree DUI and has a history of arrests in Chisago County. He is not considered dangerous. He is a white male approximately six feet tall, weighing 170 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.
