What's your soul worth?

TO THE EDITOR:

In the world where everything is going up, the price of your soul must be going down. On May 27 I put a dresser out for sale for $10, by the road, in my front yard. On May 28 I was surprised to see it gone. On the sign it said put the money in the porch (honor system).

My daughter Amanda & I looked everywhere. No money. I said somebody just stole it. Amanda said I'm sure the people just wanted the dresser now and would return to pay for it.

After she went home I looked again and to my surprise, they not only took the dresser, but took three of my pink flamingos (which leaves me seven).

If anyone would have said to me I need the dresser but I don't have ten dollars, they would have gone home with a dresser. Stealing is stealing, no matter how large or small.

I should mention I have put things out for sale and honest people have paid for what they took. So one thief does not ruin it for everyone. It's just sad that there are people out there that have no regard for other people's property.

God helps those who help themselves does not fit in this situation.
