Three Dragons named to All-Conference team

Sunday March 11 the Pine City/Rush City Dragon Varsity Hockey team capped off the season with an awards banquet. Jordan Clementson, Neal Schumacher and Travis Tacheny were selected to the All-Conference team.
The banquet was held at the Pine City VFW and began with a full-course chicken dinner catered by Judy Zastera and Kim Novak of Loves To Cook Catering. Following the dinner, the Dragons and their families listened as coaches finalized their season and presented awards.
This year's captains, Clementson, Paul Lord and Schumacher, congratulated next years newly appointed captains:
Tyler Will, Taylor Gonyea and Terry Kraft.
The team recorded the second best team win/loss record finishing 11-1 in section 2A and 20-6 overall.
The top five Dragon point getters were: senior forward Corbin Peters with 25 points. senior forward Brad Peterson with 29 points, senior forward Dan Carlson with 45 points, senior forward Tacheny with 49 points and senior forward Schumacher with 51 points.
The senior defensive lines tallied impressive numbers as well. The defensive lines of Clementson, Lord, Jesse Pogones and Frank Borich scored 37 points and were able to get off 93 shots on net.
After missing the first half of the season due to injury, senior goal tender Rob Little returned to the line-up and tallied a 6-4 record, two penalty minutes, two shut outs, a 2.67 goals against average and an impressive 91.1 percent save average.
The Dragons power play was at 25.74 percent and the penalty kill was 84.66 percent.
A special thank you goes out to Bruce and Cindy Olson for taking the time and energy to get the Dragons' number one fan, Nick Olson, to all of the games. The senior skaters really appreciated Nick's support
The senior skaters would also like to recognize Tammy Kraft for organizing their banquet and Kris Clementson for all the action photos and the behind the scenes organizing he did.
