NB school district narrows the field in superintendent search

At last Thursday's regular meeting, the North Branch School Board announced its intention to interview six candidates for the position of district superintendent. The interviews will be taking place all this week, and the board is expected to narrow the field to two candidates by the end of March.

The candidates are:

Gary Kuphal: current superintendent of the Southland School District in Adams, licenses include superintendent, secondary principal, school counselor, and math.

John Schultz: current interim superintendent in Hopkins. Licenses include superintendent, K-12 principal, special education, and life sciences.

Charles Rick: current superintendent for St. Louis County Schools, in Virginia, licenses include superintendent, secondary principal, community education director, social studies, coaching.

David Pace: current superintendent for the Breckenridge school district, licences include superintendent, K-12 principal, vocational agriculture.

Deb Henton: current chief of staff for St. Paul Schools, licenses include superintendent, secondary principal, and social studies.

David Baukol: current superintendent for Montevideo, in Monticello, licenses include superintendent, secondary principal, and health and physical education.

In other district news:

• The March 22 working session was postponed until March 29, at 6 p.m., to discuss the superintendent candidates and reduce the field. A special meeting to take action on 2007-2008 budget adjustments was scheduled for April 26.
