I have heard from several constituents who have had difficulty obtaining help with their taxes. Many have expressed their frustration with having to dial long distance to receive this help.

Fortunately, the Department of Revenue has taken steps to correct this problem. Effective immediately, several toll-free telephone numbers will be offered to help taxpayers with their questions. Those with questions about state income and sales taxes may call the department at the following numbers:

Individual taxpayer self-service: 1-800-657-3676

Individual taxpayer assistance: 1-800-652-9094

Collection assistance: 1-800-657-3909

Sales tax assistance: 1-800-657-3777

Withholding assistance: 1-800-657-3594

I hope this information will be helpful to those of you who still have to do your taxes.
