Ethel Stark
Ethel Lorraine (Abrahamson) Stark, 89, died peacefully in Cokato on March 11, 2007. A longtime resident of Cokato, she also called Russell, Minn., home for many years. She owned a hardware store there with her husband, Ted. Ethel enjoyed decades of weekends and holidays "up north" at the family cabin in Emily, Minn.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Ted of 66 years; son, David of Nisswa; daughter, Sharon Skally of St. Paul; grandchildren, Michelle Skally Doilney and husband Jim of Park City, Utah, Rebecca Skally and husband John Stanley of St. Paul and Chad Skally and wife Shannon of St. Paul; great-grandchildren, Molly Stanley (age 3), George Stanley (due May 2007) and Leif Skally (age 1); as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws and many other loved relatives and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edna Minar and grandchild, Anne Marie Skally.
Ethel was born October 8, 1917 in Rush City, Minnesota to Frank and Alice (Eckman) Abrahamson.
Ethel was known for her thoughtfulness, kindness and desire to comfort others, which often took the form of her famous homemade rye bread, Swedish meatballs, quilts or crochet gifts. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and when she could be "useful."
Ethel was an active member and volunteer at her church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato for over 50 years. She worked as a bank teller at the State Bank of Cokato for many years.
Ethels family is thankful to her friends in Cokato, especially, Isabelle, Betty and Nora; to the staff at the nursing home in Hastings and the staff at Heritage Place in Cokato and the members of her church.
Funeral service was Thursday, March 15, 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato. Officiating at the service was Rev. Steve Thorson and music provided by Karen Anderson. Please send cards and condolences to Ted Stark c/o Brookridge 180 Sunset Av, Cokato, MN 55321.
Ethel will be loved and missed by all. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, treasured grandmother and great-grandmother and a true friend.
