Loren C. Holcomb died Saturday March 10 at Windy Acres in Forest Lake at the age of 97. Loren had been a resident of the Parmly Apartments from 1982 to 2002.

Loren was born March 6, 1910 in Scandia to Edwin and Freda Holcomb. He graduated from high school and the University of Minnesota. He resided in North Branch with his wife Sandy from 1941 to 1982, the couple's three sons Jerry, Cliff, and Clark contributed to the farm. Loren farmed raising crops, chickens and had an egg route in the Twin Cities. He worked for the Austin company as an accountant until his retirement in 1967. Loren enjoyed playing baseball in his early years, playing ping pong, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with grandchildren.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Selma and RuthMay, brothers Theodore, Winfred, Earl, and grandson Ron Holcomb.

He is survived by his sons Jerry (Phyllis), Cliff (Barb), Clark (Jean), grandchildren Rick (Brenda), Corey (Bev), great-grandchildren Keho, Cassie, Damon, Cole, brother Kermit, sisters-in-law Rita and Irene, nephews, nieces and cousins.

There will be a Memorial Service at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stacy on Friday March 23 at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends starting at 9:30 a.m. before the service. Rev. Ed Wheatly will officiate.
