Renate Anderson
Renate C. (Krosting) Anderson was born on February 5, 1920 in Arlington, Minn., the seventh of nine children born to Paul and Elizabeth (Hagen) Krosting. Her dad was born in Moscow, Russia, and her mother in Germany. All the visas to America were on hold so they emigrated to PomPa, Argentina. Later they moved to Iowa before settling on a farm in Gaylord, Minn. Renate completed grade eight in Gaylord, Minn.
Renate was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington, Minn., and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Gaylord, Minn. She was married to Lawrence W. Anderson on September 15, 1940 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minn.
After moving to Rush City, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She served on the church council and spent 50 plus years with the L.C.W., helping with many church functions.
Renate was head cook at the Rush City schools for many years. Later she was head cook at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.
After retirement, Renate continued to bake and decorate cakes for all occasions. She loved gardening, canning, and her biggest thrill was showing off her flowers. She won many prizes for her exhibits at the Chisago and Pine county fairs. She was a member of the garden club for many years.
Renate and her husband Lawrence were members of two polka clubs. They traveled far and wide to dance and enjoy the music and company of many friends they had made while dancing throughout the years. They also took a trip to Argentina to visit her relatives living there. While Renate was serving as head cook at the school, she had the opportunity to travel to many states for food server's conventions.
Renate Anderson died on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Lakeside Nursing Home, Pine City, Minn., at the age of 87 years.
Renate is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Elizabeth (Hagen) Krosting, her husband Lawrence, sisters Regina, Freida, and Alma; brothers Paul, Felix, Rheinhold, Rudy, and La Verne.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters Carol (Chuck) Swanson of Rush City and Nancy Miller of Maple Grove, grandchildren Jodi Willert, Terri (Mike) Morrow, Heidi (Greg) Scheffer, Todd Swanson, Greg Miller, and Shelly (Tom) Blake; great-grandchildren Dustin, Corey, and Shay Willert; Kasey, Cody, and KayLynn Morrow; Ellie Jo Scheffer; Logan and Matthew Swanson; Emily and Rebecca Blake; great-great grandson Jayden Morrow. sisters-in-law Agnes, Louisa, and Esther Krosting, and Bev Reese.
A funeral service for Renate C. Anderson was held on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the First Lutheran Church of Rush City with the Rev. Laurie O'Shea officiating. Music was provided by Cindy Novy and Pat Stenmo. Casket Bearers were grandchildren Jodi Willert, Terri Morrow, Heidi Scheffer, Todd Swanson, Greg Miller, and Shelly Blake. Interment was at the William- Taylor Cemetery in Rush City, Minn. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service - Olson Chapel - of Rush City.
