Vikes battle for consistency

It has been a season of highs and lows for the North Branch baseball team. After losing the first seven, the boys won five straight and now have lost four straight.
The boys played a double-header against St. Louis Park May 9 and lost both games.
The first game they lost 2-7 and their second game they fell 1-5. Head coach Steve Christenson said St. Louis Park hit the ball well and were patient at the plate.
"We left too many runners in scoring positions throughout both games," he said.
Against the Columbia Heights Hylanders, the boys hoisted their white flag, losing 7-8. It was their last home game of the regular season.
"Our defense hurt us today. Plays that we normally make, weren't made. Mental errors hurt us as much as the physical ones," Christenson said.
The Vikes were able to enjoy a brief lead but weren't able to hold it for the entire game.
With the loss, the boys fell to 5-11 overall and 2-9 in the North Suburban Conference.
Up next, the boys play Fridley on the road Friday and Cambridge-Isanti on the road next Wednesday.
