RC Track: Boys 5th, girls 10th at True Team Meet
The Rush City boys track team took 5th place out of 15 teams at the True Team Section Meet May 8.
The boys team finished with 634 points. Winning the meet was St. Croix Lutheran who finished with 832 points.
Josh Dahl took 1st in the 400 meter dash and 3rd in the two mile. Jeremy Marty finished second in the 300 hurdles and the 4x800 relay team of Zac Sheele, Luke Carlson, Reilly Melin and Justin Carmichael took 5th place.
"I believe this is the toughest section for True Team in the state," head coach Mike Vaughan said. "Our team preformed beyond my expectations and I am quite pleased finishing in the top five out of 15 strong teams. These boys know how to pull together as a team and I can't tell you how proud I am to be their coach," he said.
The Rush City girls track team managed to take a 10th place finish at the True Team Meet.
Emily Swanson took 3rd in the discus, Laura Hestbeck took 5th in the two mile and Andrea Becker earned sixth in the shot put.
The Tigers finished with 385 points on the day. Finishing first overall was St. Croix Lutheran with 702 points.
"Our girls performed very well, despite our youth, they had some of their best performances of the season and this is the meet to do it."
