Community Prayer Breakfast scheduled for May 3
Posted: 5/2/07
North Branch Mayor Gloria Karsky announced that the 4th annual North Branch Community Prayer Breakfast will be held on the 56th Annual National Day of Prayer, Thursday May 3, from 6:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the North Branch Legion Hall.
This event, which includes clergy, local government officials, and local business owners, is also open to the public. Featured will be scripture readings, prayer, and a keynote address by the mayor of Elk River, Stephanie Klinzing.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual event in which millions of Americans unite to pray for our country and leaders. It is a day where community members recognize their need for personal repentance and prayer. It is a time where the Christian community seeks to intercede for America and its leadership in the five centers of power: Church, Education, Family, Government and Media.
"This event is designed to bring together the community's religious, government, and business leaders for a time of seeking God's blessings on our city, county and country," said Mayor Karsky. "This is a great way for the community to come together in prayer. As Coach Tony Dungy, who led the Indianapolis Colts to win the 2007 Super Bowl stated: ‘My heart has been changed through prayer. If it can change one heart, it can change the heart of a nation.' Hopefully this event will encourage groups of people to go back to their churches, their businesses, their schools, and their homes and pray for the community."
Cost is $3 per person. Reservations are required -- please call Northbrook Fellowship Church at (651) 277-0100 or contact Mayor Gloria Karsky at (651) 674-7803 or by e-mail at gkarsky@hotmail.com before April 30.
