Tigers earn first win of season
Seven games in to the season, the Rush City Tigers finally found what they were looking for; a win.
On April 24, the girls softball team rolled past Isle 4-2 at home. Senior Janet Kemen, was a workhorse on the mound going the distance and striking out 13 along the way. Head coach Kim Erdman said his team played great defense.
"Chelsea Peterson had a wonderful defensive game," he said.
Getting hits for the Tigers were Kemen, Amy Carlson and Tomi Schellbach.
"It was nice to get this first one under our belts. The girls played hard and deserved this win," Erdman said.
It was a well-timed win against Isle. The day before, on April 23, the girls took a 10-0 beating by the Pine City Dragons. The Dragons proved why they are a state-ranked team, holding the Tigers to only one hit on the game.
"We knew we were in for a tough game against Pine City," Erdman said. "They have a tremendous pitcher and hit the ball very well."
