Boys rock Oglive, loose to Aitkin

Freshman Justin Bosman pitches during a game against Ogilvie May 1 at home.

Coach Bob Schlagel called it "a good high school baseball game." Despite the quality of the game, the boys from Rush City still lost to Aitkin on May 3.

The boys took the loss on the road by a score of 4-2. The Tigers top pitcher, senior Jake Bosman, couldn't lift the team past the Gobblers. Rush City had one bad inning and that cost them the game, Schlagel said. On the game, the Tigers committed four errors.

"Bosman pitched six strong innings but we couldn't score enough runs to help him out," Schlagel said.

Senior Josh Ehrreich had two hits with a double. Tom Waters, the Tigers up and coming sophomore had two singles and a walk on the day.

"We hit the ball well, but they made the plays to help keep us off the board," Schlagel said.

Last week, on May 1, the boys easily handled Ogilvie and earned a 10-4 win.

Highlights of the game include the third inning where the Tigers scored seven runs and sent 13 batters to the plate, on five hits and to walks.

The team came together against Ogilvie, with seven players batting in runs.

Freshman Justin "Red" Bosman pitched seven innings giving up four runs, while striking out 11.

Jason Benson and Jake Bosman each had two hits for the Tigers.

"We played pretty well in the field," Schlagel said. "We came up with some timely hits and got a good pitching performance from freshman Justin Bosman. Our kids have to play hard and be smart every game we play."
