Tangerbucks donates thousands locally

During the 2006 - 2007 school year, the Tanger Outlet Center in North Branch partnered with several area schools to help raise funds for library books, classroom supplies, to equip classrooms with computers and software, fund special school projects and more. As part of Tanger's annual Tangerbucks for Schools program, which took place June 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007, Tanger awarded $1,400 checks to North Branch Middle school, North Branch Trinity Christian, Cambridge Intermediate, Cambridge Christian, and Taylors Falls Elementary.

"It is very exciting to be able to provide funds to help our schools and students to be even more successful," said Sharon Gallagher, general manager of the Tanger Outlet Center. "Tanger is proud to give students many of the tools they'll need to achieve their academic goals," she added.

The Tangerbucks program gives participating schools the opportunity to raise money with no strings attached. By being part of the program, schools will receive an equal share of $1 from every Tanger Savings Booklet sold at Tanger centers nationwide during the year. Tanger Savings Booklets are filled with money-saving special offers from many of the brand name stores at the Tanger Outlet Center. The booklets sell for $3 at the Tanger Outlet Center. Additionally, participating schools have the opportunity to raise even more money by hosting Tangerbucks sales events during the year.

Last year, North Branch Middle School used the funds donated toward the purchase of library books and school supplies. Trinity Christian School used funds toward education center moving expenses, and Taylors Falls Elementary purchased new playground equipment.

Tanger has partnered with school districts to raise more than $900,000 since the program's inception.
