Useful information about the NBHS prom from the coordinators
"Spectacular Events" in Isanti is the site for this year's NBHS Prom. The event will be Saturday, May 12, and will run 6 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. This year's theme is "A Night at The Ritz." The initial count indicates this will be the largest prom event in school history.
Students should hang on tightly to their tickets because they contain important information like their Grand March order number, directions to the reception site, a map, and their Safe Prom Contract. Their signature is required on this contract and signifies that they agree to follow all school rules. Students not signing the contract will not be allowed into the prom and students violating the Safe Prom Contract will suffer the consequences for poor decision making. Their tickets are also their admittance to a fabulous dinner and dance to follow the Grand March.
The Grand March will be held in the main gymnasium of the senior high. Prom participants are asked to be in the small gym to line up starting at 3:40, as the Grand March will begin promptly at 4 p.m. Both sides of the gymnasium will have bleachers down for parents, friends and family to observe the Grand March. The march will last approximately one hour 15 minutes. Students will be parading along both sides of the gymnasium, so it does not matter on which side you choose to sit. Please plan to arrive by 3:15 p.m. and we ask that you do not enter the small gym because it will be filled with Prom participants lining up. We also ask that spectators remain in the stands until the conclusion of the Grand March. This is a special day for these young adults and we know everyone wants to ensure that the spotlight is on them. Finally, there will be time allotted after the march for picture opportunities on the gymnasium floor.
The dinner and dance also promise to be memorable. The junior class officers have selected a fine meal of: tuxedo strawberries, bruschetta, Caesar salad, baron of beef, chicken breast with stuffing, au gratin potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. Desert follows to include various cakes and petite pastries of cheesecakes, cream puffs, brownies and éclairs. Included in the ticket price will be pop served for free all night long as well as a special snack later in the evening. For only $3 participants may also choose to purchase a smoothie for themselves or their date.
"Spectacular Events" food is excellent and will be a highlight to the evening. The dance will also be a lot of fun.The dance features Hot Hitz DJ, Ryan Karstens. As a reminder, Prom attendees are to arrive at Spectacular Events between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. the doors will be locked. After 6:30 p.m. if you choose to leave, you will not be readmitted to the event. Again the dance event concludes at 11:30 p.m.
Class Officers for the Junior Class include: Allyssa Houle, Toua Yang, Ashley Johnson, Kayla Kirchoff, Darren Brooke, Amanda Steele, Kayla Olesen, Liz Read, Heidi Buisman and Molly Lutgen. They have worked hard to make sure the evening events run smoothly and are enjoyable for all of the prom participants. The dance will be chaperoned by over a dozen high school staff members, two high school administrators, and two police officers - one male and one female. We have never had problems at our Prom, but seek to insure all participants have a wonderful and worry free evening.
If you have a son or daughter attending Prom, please make sure that you know where he or she is going after Prom and have a plan for the evening after the dance concludes. North Branch has a long history of a classy, elegant Prom and we want that excellent reputation to continue.
If you have any questions about Prom, please contact the Prom coordinators: Kelly Coleman and Tomi Swanson at the high school either before or after school; or feel free to e-mail them at the high school.
