Leon M. Becker, age 62 of North Branch died on Monday, November 12 from complications of cancer that was diagnosed in January 2005

He was born April 18, 1945 in Almena, Wisconsin to William and Goldie (Reis) Becker. He lived in Almena until entering the U.S. Army. Leon was stationed in Germany for three years. He and his wife Gloria with daughter, Lee moved to North Branch in 1971 where he was employed by Hermann Insurance Services for several years. Thank you David for your constant friendship. Leon also previously worked in banking for several years.

He was very active in many areas of service at his church, Trinity Lutheran in North Branch and in various community organizations. He enjoyed all sports, music and anything his grandchildren participated in.

Leon is survived by his wife, Gloria; his beloved daughter and son in law, Lee and Dan Chouinard of North Branch, six wonderful grandchildren, Amanda, Erik, Alexa, Cade, Elijah and Koby Chouinard; his mother, Goldie Becker of Almena, WI; sisters, Alice Carson of Duluth; Verna Kindy and Marcella Thompson both of Indianapolis, IN; Gladys Birkholz of Barron, WI; brothers, Wilbert of Apple Valley, Allen of Eau Claire, WI; Warren of St. Paul; Ralph of Almena, WI; and Russell of Barron, WI and all their families; mother in law, Alma Schilke of North Branch; brother in law, David Schilke of Carlsbad, CA; and his family and many friends and business associates.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Loren Mellum and Rev. Susan Schoon officiating. Organist will be Debra Aulich. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, November 15th at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and one hour prior to service at church on Friday. Interment will be at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery in Almena, WI.

We will remember Leon's kind and gentle nature, his sense of humor, incredible spirit and unwavering faith. Auf Widersehen "Until we meet again." Arrangements are under the direction Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
