There were 267 write-ins in the Rush City School Board election in which 178 district residents voted yesterday. Three four-year positions were up for grabs with only one official candidate, incumbent Scott Tryon, running.
Tryon was re-elected with 143 votes. The two top write-in candidates were Stefanie Folkema with 101 votes and Mark Moulton with 56 votes. Moulton, who is currently on the board, did not run for re-election.
After the canvassing Moulton could not say if he would accept the position. If he does not, the board will have to establish a procedure for applications for the position to be appointed by the end of the year.
