George Fahrenholz

George Howard Fahrenholz was born Dec. 28, 1919 in Rush City to George and Vera Fahrenholz.

He passed away on October 27, 2007 after a short illness at the Minnesota Masonic Home where he had resided for the past 4 1/2 years. George grew up in Rush City and graduated from high school in 1937. He spent the next few years working in Yellowstone National Park at Mammoth Springs. This area become one of his favorites returning to it several times.

He returned to the family farm and worked alongside his father until his death in 1965. He stayed on the farm, but later became a postal letter carrier for the Rural Carriers until his retirement. He delivered mail to many of his neighbors on RR 1 in Rush City. Traveling was an important part of his life after retirement. He saw England, Alaska, the Panama Canal, several cruises to warm locations, Branson, Mo., and numerous other U.S. locations including his favorite, Yellowstone Park.

Throughout all the years, one thing that was very important in his life was his association with his fraternal organizations. He was a 60 year member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge # 164 and also was an active member of the Osman Shrine, the Knights Templar, & the York Scottish Rite.

George is survived by a sister, Helen Grimm of Mpls, sister-in-law Elizabeth Fahrenholz of St. Anthony, nieces Lynn (Craig) Talbert of Minnetonka, Linda Dootson of Mpls., nephews Barry (Laurie) Grimm of Eden Prairie, Steve (Brenda) Fahrenholz of Austin, Tex,. and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Preceding George in death is his parents George and Vera (Swan) Fahrenholz, his brother Jack Fahrenholz and his brother-in-law Kenneth Grimm.

The family would like to thank the Minnesota Masonic Home for the wonderful care these past four years.

Rev. Laurie O'Shea and the Jasper Masonic Lodge officiated at funeral services for George Fahrenholz Tuesday 2 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City. Music was provided by soloist Jan Goebel and organist Pat Stenmo. The Jasper Masonic Lodge # 164 acted as honorary casket bearers. Active casket bearers included Barry Grimm, Craig Talbert, Dean Goebel, Frank Strelow, Loring Nelson and Troy Brown with the interment in the First Lutheran Cemetery at Rush City. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City - Olson Chapel.
