The ball is in your court.
TO THE EDITOR:
A couple of years ago, our legislators voted to allow the cities to levy without referendum ballot, items that benefit the public such as fire halls, police stations, etc. The North Branch Council has decided to dip their toes in the water and levy $2.2 million for a new police station without referendum vote.
Whether you believe we need a police station or not, we have the right to vote. The only way we can exercise this right is by petition.
Several citizens have placed petitions in some North Branch businesses for your convenience. Some are going door-to-door. It does not mean you are for for against the police station.
We only have a few weeks left before they must be turned in .You must be a North Branch registered voter. Please print your name and sign, put your address and phone number. These will be validated so they must be legible.
The ball is in your court.
