How much impact does enrollment have on public school funding? In North Branch, a drop in enrollment this year of 103 students cost the district roughly $580,000 in per pupil funding.

For a district already dealing with over $2 million in budget adjustments and a depleted fund balance, shrinking enrollment is bad news at an already bad juncture.

In next week's print edition, the Post Review will analyze the predicted continuation of declining enrollment in the short term. How will it impact the district financially, where are the students going, and is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
