Cross Country is fast and furious at Becker Invite
The North Branch girls cross country team finished second place out of seven teams at the Becker Invitational Oct. 2.
In a shift of top runners, Ali Zimmerman crossed the finish first for the girls. Zimmerman took 6th place overall and finished in 16:09. Miranda Charley ended in 11th place in a time of 16:28.
The Boys took 5th place out of seven team with 88 points at the Becker Invite.
Mike Heidelberger earned a 3rd overall finish with a time of 17:33.
"It wasn't the best meet overall that we've had this year but we've really been working hard so everyone was understandably just a little tired," head coach Brian Hasleiet said.
Hasleiet was most impressed with Shayna Gray who took 13th place.
"Shayna really showed her ability and ran the best she's run all year. She's been up and down between junior varsity and varsity this year but really ran a mentally tough race and finished very well," he said.
Speaking in terms of the boys, Hasleiet said Ryan Norman and Mike Heidelberger had good races.
"The other guys ran well but we need to close the gap a little bit between our No. 2 and No. 3, 4, and 5 runners in the next couple of races.
Up next, the boys and girls run against Chisago Lakes at the North Branch Golf Course on Oct. 9.
