The Rush City cross country team took 4th place out of eight teams at the St. John's Invitational Sept. 27.

Laura Hestbeck, the girls No. 1 runner, took 8th place at the meet in a time of 17:06.

Head coach Kevin Smith said the girls need to reduce the spacing between runners.

"This is an area we will work on improving. If we can reduce our spacing, it will help our team score greatly," he said.

The boys ran the same race, but did not report a team score because they didn't have enough runners for varsity.

Senior Zach Saumer ran a personal best in 17:48, good enough for a 5th place finish overall.

Reilly Melin also ran personal best finishing in 18:47, which put him in 17th place.

"We are really happy with the team's results today," Smith said.
