Interests in capable hands
TO THE EDITOR:
It is telling that the Chisago County Republican Party kicked off the 2008 fund raising season (Reagan dinner a huge success) by celebrating a famous deceased leader.
Just like Fran Tarkington suiting up to play won't help the Vikings win a Super Bowl; going back 25 years in political history won't help us find solutions for the 21st century.
We don't need old ideas or old leaders; we need new ones. We need new partnerships to end grid lock. And we need a person with the energy to make these things happen.
And based on his performance in his first session, Chisago County has found that person in Rep. Jeremy Kalin.
Since Rep. Kalin did such a good job and is the only local legislator up for re-election, the Republicans took pot shots at him. They accuse him of voting in favor of bi-partisan bills. Hmm... I thought that's what we wanted?
And it was Rep. Kalin, a Democrat, who was chosen to carry Governor Pawlenty's landmark Energy Efficiency Bill. This bill was one of the Republican Party's successes this session and they've Rep. Kalin to thank!
Anyways, God expects us to be in relationship with one another in all things; as he is in relationship with the Son and Holy Spirit. In the end, isn't it all about working together?
In this regard, I believe our interests are in very capable hands.
