Guilty of crimes of compassion

At right: North Branch High School Food Service Director Don Kivimaki raised $250 to "get out of jail" at the food shelf fund-raising event last week.

"Guilty of Crimes of Compassion!" That was the repeated verdict uttered by Judge Len Gebhart (a volunteer at the Family Pathways Food Pantry) as one by one suspects came before him and pleaded their case. Sara Callin (North Branch Food Pantry Coordinator and repeat offender) along with other "Suspects" and "Persons of Interest" boasted they would gladly repeat their crimes for the benefit of the North Branch Food Pantry. Some "Suspects" came prepared with their "Bail" in hand; others struggled to raise it on the spot.

Currently, 125 families are being helped by Family Pathways. Half of those being fed are children. The need for helps increases, but donations lag behind. It is not too late to donate food or money to the North Branch Bail or Jail Fund-raiser.
