In a hard fought battle, the Rush City volleyball team lost to the Braham Bombers at home on Oct. 9.
The game was the team's last regular season home game of the year.
The girls took game one away from the Bombers but came up short in the last three matches.
In game three, the girls were up 16-1 but let the lead slip away and lost by two, 25-23.
Senior Britt Scheffer had six skills and one ace serve and Megan Drevecky went 20-21 serving and had 17 set assists.
Rush City played the Bombers on Sept. 9 and lost, 3-0.
Last weeks showing was an improvement, but not enough to secure the win.
Head coach Eric Telander said it was tough loss.
"We somehow lost game three, after being up 16-1. I am at a loss for words," he said.
Braham Invitational
At the Braham Invitational on Oct. 13, the girls fell to Albany, Princeton and Hinckley-Finlayson.
All three games they lost in two matches.
The girls came close to beating the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars in the first game, but lost 26-28.
Sophomore Jenna Scheffer had eight kills, and was 11 for 12 serving.
"We played some tough teams, but we should have given them a greater challenge," Telander said.
With the losses, the girls are now 2-19 overall and 0-8 in the Great River Conference.
The girls play in the SubSection 18 5AA quarterfinals on Oct. 26. Check next weeks sports section for results.
