Isaman sentenced for April incident
By Patrick Tepoorten
Andrew Isaman, 22, of Harris, was sentenced on Sept. 12 to serve 365 days in the Chisago County jail for his earlier guilty plea to ineligible person in possession of a firearm.
As part of his plea agreement, Isaman, who has been in jail since early April, will receive credit for time served and can participate in a work release program, according to County Attorney Janet Reiter.
Isaman must also pay a fine of $1,282, complete anger management, undergo chemical use assessment and treatment, forfeit any weapons, and submit to random substance testing. He must not have any contact with victims or family members of victims related to the early April incident that resulted in his arrest. Following his incarceration, Isaman is subject to up to five years of probation.
Isaman's arrest was predicated on allegations he had threatened specific Harris city officials, including the fire chief and mayor. Because no physical evidence existed that Isaman made specific threats against specific individuals, the original charge of making terroristic threats was dropped. But, due to a previous conviction that made it illegal for Isaman to possess firearms, he still faced a felony charge for ineligibility.
According to Reiter, Isaman was cooperative with the court ordered evaluation as per the plea agreement.
