Darlene Corrier

Darlene Mae Corrier, the daughter of Donald and Merna (Glaubitz) Corty, was born March 5, 1944 at Frederic, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of the Corty children and lived with her family on a small farm near Clam Falls, Wisconsin for a few years before moving to a dairy farm located south of Grantsburg, Wisc. She attended elementary school at Branstad, Wisc. and later attended Grantsburg High School.

While growing up, Darlene helped with chores on the farm and cared for her younger brothers and sisters. On October 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Gary Corrier.

Darlene and Gary made their first home across the road from the Corrier family farm near Rush City, Minn. They lived there until 1964, and during this time their daughter Corinne was born in 1961 and their son Bradley was born in 1964.

It was in 1964 the family moved to Blaine, Minnesota where Gary began a 34 year career working and driving truck for Handke and Darlene was a stay-at-home wife and mother. As her family grew older, she began her 30 year employment with SMC.

In 1972, Darlene and Gary decided to move their family back to the Rush City area and settled on the same land they had lived on during the first years of their marriage. They lived in the house they built until 2004. Spending winters in Arizona was a pleasant experience for them.

Darlene was active in the Grantsburg American Legion Auxiliary, the Braham Moose Lodge, the Rush City Eagles, and the Rush City VFW. She loved to play cards and enjoyed bowling and watching the Twins and Vikings play. Spending time with her many friends in Minnesota, Wisc., and Arizona was especially enjoyable for her.
