Irene D. Reese, age 86 of Almelund died on Monday, Sept. 24 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1920 on the family farm site near Almelund to Ernest and Anna (Swenson) Lindblom. She was raised in the Almelund area and attended country school through the 8th grade. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Oct. 24, 1920 and confirmed there on May 20, 1934. She married Howard Reese on her birthday on Sept. 29, 1949.

Irene worked as a housekeeper in North Oaks for many years. She loved quilting, gardening, scrabble, baking cookies and pies. She also sang in the church choir and was active in her bible study group.

She is survived by her brother, Dale (Betty) Lindblom of North Branch, two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Howard in 1971; sister Beatrice in 2006.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund with Rev. Brian Bergin officiating. Music was provided by Pat Remer and Norman Peterson. Interment took place in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
