Tried hard, still no win

For some, the end of the North Branch football season can't come soon enough.
The boys fell to Spring Lake Park at home last Friday 67-0.
The Vikings stayed competitive with the panthers through the first quarter, holding them to just one touchdown.
After the first 12 minutes of play it was all Spring Lake Park, who unleashed touchdown after touchdown.
"SLP is a very tough team. We hung tough for the first quarter of the game and into the second," head coach Dave Eyre said. "We showed a glimmer of promise on offense and defense."
Cole Willcoxen completed four of eight passes for a total of 12 yards. Joe Johnson also took some snaps in the quarterback slot, connecting on one of six passes for 25 yards.
Chad Anderson was the team's one-man receiving crew. He caught the only passes for the Vikings and finished with four catches for 30 yards.
On the ground, junior Sam Kalkbrenner carried the ball four times for 13 yards. Junior Nick Grey added two carries for 10 yards.
With the loss, the team has dropped to 0-5.
North Branch will need to bring everything they have to the table when they host the Totino-Grace Eagles at home on Friday, still looking for that first win.
