Workshop for grandparents raising grandkids
Attention grandparents raising grandkids and kin raising kin's children! You are invited to Super Saturday: Skill Building for Parents Oct. 13 from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Forest Lake High School. Two of the workshops may be of special interest to you. Sharon Olson, vice-president of both MN Kinship Caregivers Association and GrandFamilies of America, will lead a discussion about relevant issues and resources available for people in your particular situation, and Peter Banovetz, lawyer and legal advisor, will present the latest news on legal issues affecting you. Other grandparents will be there to share some of their experiences.
The morning will also include keynote address, "How to Talk so Kids will Listen, and Listen so Kids will Talk," by Patty Carney-Bradley, an educational consultant. Two sessions of workshops will include Raising Resilient Children, New Tactics for Challenging Children, Leave No Child Inside, Sports Safety, and Teaching Kids Money Management.
Come at 8 a.m. for coffee, juice and rolls before the keynote. The whole morning is free and no pre-registration is required.
