Cambridge ED director resigns, takes job in North Branch

Tom Willett

The Cambridge City Council on Monday, Oct. 1 accepted the resignation of Economic Development Director Tom Willett, who is pursuing the same role for the city of North Branch.

Willett's resignation will become effective Oct. 26.

In his letter of resignation dated Sept. 25 to City Administrator Lynda Woulfe, Willett thanked the city and its staff for the opportunity to serve as their economic development director.

"Over the past three and a half years, I feel much has been accomplished. I have always attempted to do the very best job possible," Willett wrote. "Economic development successes are the result of a team effort. Thus, I would like to thank the many community and industrial leaders who have assisted me in carrying out the many tasks.

"The challenge of serving as North Branch's first economic development director is a career opportunity that I could not pass up," Willett concluded in his letter.

Monday's city council meeting will immediately follow the Cambridge Economic Development Authority Housing Division meeting, which begins at noon at city hall.
